Hard chrome plated rods are usually made of high-quality carbon steel or alloy steel as the base material, such as 45 steel. These materials have good strength and toughness, and can provide stable mechanical properties for subsequent processing and use. The process of hard chrome plated rods is relatively delicate. First, the base hard chrome plated rods are pretreated, including degreasing, pickling, grinding and other steps to remove oil stains, oxide scales and impurities on the surface, so that the surface reaches a suitable roughness and creates good conditions for chrome plating. Then, the hard chrome plated rods are placed in a chrome plating solution, which generally contains chromic anhydride, sulfuric acid and other components. Through electrolysis, under certain conditions such as temperature, current density and time, chromium ions are deposited on the surface of the rod to form a chrome plating layer.
The chrome plating layer of the hard chrome plated rod has a very high hardness, generally up to HV800-1200, which can effectively resist wear. In the process of relative movement with other parts, such as when used as a guide rod or piston rod in mechanical transmission and hydraulic systems, even under high load and high friction, it can maintain a good surface condition, reduce wear, and thus extend service life. The chromium layer of the hard chrome plated rod can form a dense oxide film in the air. This oxide film makes the hard chrome plated rod have good corrosion resistance and can be used normally in some industrial places with corrosive environments, such as in environments with high humidity or slight chemical corrosion. The hard chrome plated rod process can accurately control the thickness and uniformity of the chrome plating layer, thereby ensuring the dimensional accuracy of the hard chrome plated rod. Its outer diameter tolerance can be controlled within a very small range, and the straightness and cylindricity can also meet the requirements of precision machinery.
In automation equipment, hard chrome plated rods can be used as high-precision transmission parts; in the hydraulic system of engineering machinery, hard chrome plated rods play a key role as piston rods; in textile machinery, printing machinery and other fields, hard chrome plated rods are used for parts that require wear resistance and high precision, such as rollers, printing rollers, etc.
